 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week. Congratulations pour in as Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele's 'Behind the scenes' movie crosses two billion naira(2b) at the box office, the first Nollywood movie to ever reach such height.


Funke Akindele took to her X account to announce this in a celebratory video with some of the casts of the movie. 


"Our hearts are full of gratitude to God and to you, our amazing fans who have become family. Thank you for believing in this journey. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without you.


"BehindTheScenes is showing nationwide, in the UK & Ireland at select Odeon cinemas, in the USA at Regal Cinemas, and in Canada from January 16 at Landmark Cinemas", she captioned the video.


The BehindTheScenes movie features A-list actors like Scarlet Gomez, Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uche Montana, Uzor Arukwe, Ini Dima-Okojie, Adebowale ‘Mr Macaroni’, Ibrahim Chatta and Kamo State, alongside several other established and emerging actors.
