 Tanzania closes Nduta camp housing thousands of Burundi refugees Tanzania has closed a camp housing thousands of Burundian refugees and repatriated all but a handful, activists and the United Nations said. Burundian refugees have complained in recent months of being forcibly evicted from the Nduta camp in northwestern Tanzania, following a deal between the governments in Dar Es Salaam and Bujumbura to repatriate around 100,000 of them by June. As of late 2025, there were an estimated 142,000 Burundian refugees housed in two Tanzanian camps - Nduta and Nyarugusu, according to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR). "The approximately 3,000 refugees who remained in the (Nduta) camp were forcibly loaded onto vehicles to be sent back to Burundi on Thursday," the Coalition for Human Rights/Living in Refugee Camps (CDH/VICAR) said, AFP reported.  Gov. Uba Sani Provides Medical Support For Kurmin Wali Attack Victims, Pledges Rescue Of Abductees


Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has fulfilled his commitment to victims of the recent kidnapping attack in Kurmin Wali community, ensuring that those injured are receiving full medical attention at the expense of the state government, while efforts continue to secure the release of persons still in captivity.


At least eleven residents, including women, children, and men, sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.


Following an earlier visit to the community, Governor Sani directed that all injured victims be provided with prompt and comprehensive medical care, reaffirming his administration’s support for the affected families.


The governor has also intensified collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of those abducted during the incident. 


Government sources disclosed that Governor Sani is personally monitoring the situation and has emphasized that the state will not relent until all victims are safely reunited with their families.


Residents and community leaders in Kurmin Wali have commended the governor’s swift intervention and compassionate response, describing his actions as reassuring at a time of fear and uncertainty. 


They noted that the government’s presence and support have helped restore hope within the community.


Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, stressing that the security and welfare of citizens remain a top priority. 


He assured that no effort would be spared until peace is fully restored in Kurmin Wali and all abducted persons are brought home safely.
