 Malian army withdraws from key Tessalit military camp: sources Mali’s army and its Russian mercenary allies have surrendered Camp Tessalit, a strategic military post in the north, multiple sources told the AFP news agency on Friday. An official from the Tuareg-led separatist group claimed soldiers and mercenaries at the camp had "surrendered", following a fierce fight over the weekend. Simultaneous attacks in Mali by militants linked to Al Qaeda and separatist Tuareg rebels on April 25 showed how fighters ​from different groups with different goals were able to strike at the heart of the West African country's military government. Gunfire and explosions were reported in the capital Bamako and around a large military base outside the capital, as well as Gao and central areas, as gunfire continuing in the northern city of Kidal. Governor Yusuf Mourns Tragic Killing of Kano Mother, Children


….Directs Police to Arrest Perpetrators…


Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the brutal killing of a Kano woman and her children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, describing the incident as barbaric, senseless and a grave assault on human dignity.


This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Saturday 


Governor Yusuf extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the entire Kano State, praying that Allah grants the departed eternal rest and gives their loved ones the fortitude to bear the painful loss.


He described the murder of a mother and her innocent children as unacceptable and vowed that his administration would not allow such a heinous crime to go unpunished.


The Governor has directed the Kano State Police Command to immediately hunt down the perpetrators and ensure they are arrested and prosecuted, warning that anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.


Governor Yusuf also ordered the Kano Neighborhood Corps to intensify patrols and community surveillance across vulnerable areas, as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots security and prevent a recurrence of such tragedy.


He called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring that the government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property.
