 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  MAKURDI CULT ATTACK CLAIMS 3 LIVES IN WURUKUM

The Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Joseph Keffi, has condemned the killing of three persons by suspected cultists in Wurukum, Walomayo Council Ward of the LGA.


The victims were said to have been attacked in the late hours of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, around 11:49 pm. Those killed were identified as Mr Hundred, who lived opposite the Wurukum Mosque; Martins Dagba, popularly known as Wonder, who resided near Solace Hotels; and Aondoaseer Yisa, also called Poka, of Usman Street.


Reacting to the incident, the chairman, through his Special Adviser on Security and Political Matters, Terhide Beetseh Mark, described the killings as senseless and heartbreaking, while extending condolences to the bereaved families and affected communities.


He said the local government was collaborating with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to beef up security in the area and ensure the perpetrators were brought to justice.


Beetseh added that the council remained committed to restoring peace, rebuilding affected communities and promoting development across the local government.


He urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies, noting that community cooperation was critical to tackling criminal activities.


The Makurdi Local Government Council called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives as investigations into the killings continued.
