 AU urges de-escalation as fighting displaces over 180,000 in South Sudan’s Jonglei state The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called for immediate de-escalation and strict adherence to South Sudan’s 2018 peace agreement, as renewed fighting in Jonglei State displaced more than 180,000 people and raised fears of further civilian harm. In a statement, African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said he was deeply concerned by the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country, particularly Jonglei, where escalating violence and inflammatory rhetoric have put civilians—including women and children—at heightened risk. South Sudanese authorities estimate the number of displaced in Jonglei at more than 180,000, the United Nations humanitarian agency OCHA said last week.  Nigerian couple cry for help over their missing daughter 

A Nigerian couple has cried out for help in finding their missing four-year-old daughter, Oluwadabira


In a video sent to LIB, the distraught father of the missing girl said the abductors came into his apartment to abduct his daughter in Ogijo in Ogun state last Friday, January 9 . 


Speaking in Yoruba, the father, Olufemi Adekeja, said on the day of the incident, himself and his wife were about driving out of their compound when their car got stuck in mud. He mentioned that while trying to figure out how to get their car out of the mud, two ladies who were passing by, stopped and assisted them in getting their car out of the mud. He said immediately the car was pushed out of the mud, he told his children who had been watching to go in the house and lock the gate. He said the ladies, who helped them with pushing their stuck car, requested for a lift which he gladly granted. 


He said after driving about 2km to 3km, the women asked to be dropped. He said he thought  they saw someone they knew but unknown to him, they hopped on a motorcycle back to his house where they met with his children and pretended as if he asked them to come bring his daughter, Oluwadabira.


He said that was how his daughter was abducted and has been missing now for days. He appealed to Nigerians to help find his missing child.
