 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. 15 TRADERS DIE IN AUTO CRASH AFTER ATTENDING WEDDING IN ENUGU

At least 15 traders have reportedly lost their lives in a fatal road accident while returning to Umuahia, Abia State, after attending a traditional marriage ceremony in Enugu State.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, February 15, 2026, and has thrown the Bonny Street business community in Umuahia into mourning. The victims were said to be traders who had travelled to Enugu to honour the wedding rites of a colleague.

According to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle conveying the traders was involved in a ghastly crash during the return journey. Several passengers were said to have died on the spot, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The injured victims were rescued and taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where they are currently receiving treatment.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to officially confirm the cause of the accident or release a comprehensive statement on the incident.

Meanwhile, families and colleagues of the deceased have been left devastated by the sudden loss, as investigations continue.
