Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported.  2 teens face attempted murder charges for allegedly planning mass shooting at Indiana high school

Two 17-year-old girls have been charged with attempted murder and conspiracy for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at a central Indiana high school that one of them attended.

Alexis Pickett, a student at Morristown High School in Shelbyville, Indiana, and Melanie Little of Corinth, Mississippi, are both facing adult charges. Authorities say the plan was discussed over social media, with Pickett sharing videos of the school’s layout with Little. The investigation began in December when Pickett’s mother reported concerning behavior, including online conversations fixated on past school shootings, to local sheriff’s deputies. Pickett, who lives in Arlington, Indiana, was charged in January, and Little was charged this week.

Law enforcement documents show that the pair used the Discord app to discuss the alleged attack, with Pickett acknowledging thoughts of self-harm and harming others. Her devices reportedly contained images from the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, and she previously dressed as a school shooter for Halloween. According to court filings, Pickett planned a shooting around graduation day, and Little reportedly intended to claim she was visiting an old friend. Pickett allegedly provided videos of school hallways and dead ends, and photos of targets she hit with a shotgun and a .357 revolver. The pair also discussed acquiring additional firearms.

Both Pickett and Little face one count each of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, each carrying 20 to 40 years in prison. Pickett is also charged with intimidation. Pickett is being held on a $1 million cash bond, with her trial set for April 20. Little remains in a Mississippi jail, and Indiana authorities are pursuing extradition after she declined to waive it.
