 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  6th SDD Bayelsa Marathon: Gov. Diri increases prize money+ announces Yenagoa City International Marathon in April


Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State today witnessed and presented prizes to winners of the 6th edition of the SDD Bayelsa Marathon race in Yenagoa as part of activities marking the sixth year of his administration.


The elite athletes who competed for 10kilometres from Etegwe/Edepie roundabout in the male and female categories were rewarded with N1million, N500,000 and N300,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.


Gang James from Plateau State emerged champions in the men’s category followed by Francis James and Israel Sadjo from Cross River State with 3rd position.


In the women’s category, it was a clean sweep for the athletes from Plateau State-  Akusho Lydia Thomas, Vivian Obadiah and Tanko Nvou Jyany coming first, second and third respectively.


There was also the teens category for the secondary school students.


Governor Diri, who appreciated the organisers led by Mr. Odonkumo Igbeita, for sustaining the vision to boost sports development announced an increase in the top prize money from N1 million to N2 million from the next edition.


Gov. Diri urged the Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali and the organisers to keep up the momentum in their support to the growth of the games in the state.
