 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. ANAMBRA FIRST LADY URGES PARENTS TO EMBRACE MEASLES-RUBELLA VACCINATION. (PHOTOS).


 Anambra First Lady urges parents to embrace measles-rubella vaccination


The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has officiallyflagged off the Measles-Rubella vaccination in the state, reminding residents that vaccination remains one of the most effective ways for protection against diseases.


Rubbella is a variant of measles, with a significant threat to children from nine months to 14 years.The vaccination exercise, which took place at Iruzu Primary Health Centre, Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, on Wednesday, officially marked the state-wide administration of the vaccine to children across the state.


The campaign is run in partnership with national and global partners, including the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and other key counterparts.


Speaking during the ceremony, the governor’s wife, who was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Oluchi Ibezim, stated that vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to protect Anambra children, quietly, safely, and, most importantly, early.


The governor’s wife also appealed to stakeholders, including parents, local government mayors, schools, and religious leaders, to assist in making the programme a success by ensuring that over 98 per cent of children in Anambra State are vaccinated.


In their remarks, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, and the Executive Secretary of Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Chisom Uchem, explained that adequate monitoring and supervision have already been put in place to ensure that all stakeholders are effectively mobilised to achieve maximum coverage in the programme.
