 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. BAUCHI SECURITY: Police Recovered N1,050,000 Motorcycle, Apprehended Suspect 


The 'C' Division of the Command has arrested a suspect involved in the theft of a motorcycle valued at N1,050,000.


2. On 2nd February, 2026, at approximately 1900hrs, two complainants, Abdullahi Aliyu, a motorcycle dealer, and Musa Usman, a motorcycle mechanic, reported to the police station that a yet-to-be-identified person had stolen a Boxer motorcycle from Aliyu's shop at Muda Lawal Market.


3.The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Muhammad, 25, of Tabli via Birshi Ward, Bauchi, was arrested on 9th February, 2026, at Gwallameji Area, Bauchi, following a tip-off and surveillance by the 'C' Division's detectives. The stolen motorcycle was recovered.


4. Muhammad has confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


5. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+) commended the efforts of the detectives and patrol team involved in the operation and urged citizens to continue providing information to help combat crime in the state.
