CALLS GROW FOR ROTATION OF KADUNA SOUTH SENATORIAL SEAT TO PROMOTE FAIRNESS. (PHOTO).

Calls Grow For Rotation Of Kaduna South Senatorial Seat To Promote Fairness

Jayce A. Yashim, founder of Kaura Freedom TV, has called for fairness and inclusiveness in the distribution of the Kaduna South Senatorial position, urging that the seat be rotated among the district’s eight local government areas.

In a statement, Yashim noted that senatorial representation in Kaduna South has historically been dominated by Zango Kataf and Kaura Local Government Areas.

The Kaduna South Senatorial District comprises Zango Kataf, Kaura, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kagarko, Kauru and Sanga LGAs.

According to Yashim, while past and present senators such as Danjuma Laah, Nnenadi Usman and Sunday Marshall Katung have served the district, the continued concentration of the position in only two local governments raises concerns about equity and political inclusion.

He argued that rotating the senatorial seat would promote unity, strengthen democratic participation and give all parts of the district a sense of belonging.

Yashim identified Jema’a, Jaba, Kachia and Sanga LGAs as areas with the population strength, economic potential and strategic importance to effectively represent the district at the National Assembly.

He stated that allowing other local governments to produce a senator would contribute to balanced development and deepen trust in the political process.
