Terrifying new dashcam footage shows moment doomed NBC helicopter falls out of the sky The terrifying moment an NBC helicopter fell out of the sky and plunged into the ground near where an SUV had slammed into a Metro bus was caught on dashcam. The video, obtained by KTLA, shows the helicopter descending, caught from afar on the vehicle camera of Yera Valencia. She said: “I downloaded the video of my dashcam. It’s a little dot on the video. It’s a crisp video and it just goes down.” She added: “God, it’s so close, it could have happened to anyone. My parents walk down the street.” The two back-to-back Tuesday night crashes resulted in five deaths — two involving the bus and SUV, and three as a result of the chopper going down, killing reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw and pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia.

 CAS MEETS AIR COMPONENT COMMANDERS, OUTLINES ROADMAP FOR SUSTAINED AND INTENSIFIED AIR OPERATIONS


The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s uncompromising resolve to intensify air operations against insurgent and terrorist elements, declaring that the Service remains fully committed to decisive, intelligence-driven action across all theatres. Speaking at a high-level strategic meeting with Air Component Commanders (ACCs) on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, the CAS described the engagement as a critical warfighting review forum designed to sharpen operational effectiveness and accelerate the restoration of peace nationwide. He stressed that the gathering enabled commanders to rigorously evaluate ongoing missions, close operational gaps, and align strategies with emerging threats in an increasingly dynamic security environment.


Emphasising that counter-insurgency operations demand speed, precision, and relentless pressure on hostile elements, Air Marshal Aneke charged commanders to sustain operational dominance. “We must dominate the operational space through superior coordination, innovation, and unwavering professionalism. Every sortie, every mission, and every decision must move us closer to total security restoration,” he said, while reaffirming that the Nigerian Air Force will continue projecting overwhelming airpower in support of ground forces and joint operations. Commending the ACCs and their personnel, he praised their courage and discipline under demanding combat conditions, noting that their sacrifices have degraded insurgent capabilities and disrupted hostile networks. “Our personnel remain our greatest strength. Their resilience in the face of adversity proves that the Nigerian Air Force is prepared, focused, and battle-ready,” he added.


While cautioning that the security landscape remains fluid and requires constant adaptation, the CAS directed intensified intelligence-led operations, stronger inter-agency collaboration, and full exploitation of modern technology supported by standardised training, predictive maintenance, and responsive logistics. He assured Nigerians that the Nigerian Air Force is maintaining relentless operational momentum and will not yield ground to forces threatening national stability. “The Nigerian Air Force stands as a shield over the nation. We remain vigilant, aggressive against threats, and fully aligned with our constitutional duty to safeguard the country,” he affirmed. Reassuring the public, the NAF stated that its operational posture is designed to deliver sustained security gains, urging citizens to remain confident as the Service continues to evolve, strengthen partnerships, and apply decisive airpower until lasting peace is secured.
