  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report. EFCC Arrests Eight,  Six Trucks for Alleged Illegal Mining Activities in Kwara

 

Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have  arrested eight persons and six trucks  for alleged involvement in illegal mining activities along the Ilorin - Ogbomoso axis of Kwara and Oyo states.

 

The suspects were arrested on Saturday, February 20, 2026, following credible intelligence and days of surveillance on unlawful mineral excavation and transportation across parts of the two states. 

 

Their arrest brings to 18 the total number of persons apprehended by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate for suspected illegal mining within the last one month.

 

 The suspects were intercepted  last weekend alongside six truck-loads of assorted minerals suspected to be lithium and kaolin.

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly operated without the requisite licences, permits, or regulatory approvals for mining activities.

 

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon  conclusion of the ongoing investigations.
