 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  FIRE DESTROYS HOMES IN HIGH-LEVEL MAKURDI, BENUE, LEAVES FAMILIES HOMELESS 


3rd February, 2026   


Earlier today, a fire swept through homes at 13th Avenue, Iorkyaa Ako Street, High-Level Mkd in Benue State, leaving several families homeless.


The cause of the blaze is yet unknown. Neighbours say there was no cooking or electricity at the time the fire broke out.


A mother of three lost her room completely, while a husband and wife living next door also had their home destroyed, losing all their belongings. The victims are now without shelter or basic necessities.


Authorities and members of the public are urged to step in. Temporary accommodation or any form of assistance will provide much-needed relief to the affected families.


The fire has left the people in shock, highlighting the urgent need for support and intervention.
