FORMER ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ CONTESTANT CHARGED WITH KILLING WIFE, STAGING CRIME SCENE. (PHOTO).

Former ‘American Idol’ contestant charged with killing wife, staging crime scene

Authorities in Ohio have arrested former “American Idol” contestant Caleb Flynn, 39, charging him with murdering his wife and staging the scene to mislead investigators. Flynn pleaded not guilty Friday to murder, assault, and tampering with evidence charges.

“I just want to take care of my daughters. I’m not a risk,” Flynn told Judge Samuel Huffman during a video arraignment from jail. Bond was set at $2 million.

Flynn’s wife, Ashley Flynn, 37, was found dead Monday after police responded to a report of a burglary and shooting at a home in Tipp City. Caleb Flynn and their two children were inside the residence when officers arrived. In a 911 call released by authorities, he can be heard telling dispatchers that someone had broken into the home and shot his wife multiple times in the head. “There’s blood everywhere, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” he says in the recording.

Flynn’s attorney, Patrick Mulligan, expressed concern over the speed of the investigation, suggesting a rushed process could increase the risk of a wrongful conviction. Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins defended the investigation, saying it has proceeded at a pace dictated by thorough investigative work.

Ashley Flynn, a middle school volleyball coach and substitute teacher, was remembered by Tipp City Schools for her warmth, kindness, and positive impact on students and the community.
