 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  GWER-EAST COUNCIL INVITES DISSOLVED MARKET CHAIRMEN TO STRATEGIC MEETING. 


The Gwer-East Local Government Council has called on all dissolved Market Committee Chairmen within the area to attend a scheduled meeting on Monday, February 16, 2026.


According to a public announcement signed by the Council Secretary, Hon. Ajo Pitex, the meeting will hold by 10:00 a.m. at the Council Secretariat in Aliade.


The council said the meeting will focus on key issues relating to market administration and other matters considered important to the local government.


All concerned individuals have been urged to attend promptly, as discussions at the meeting are expected to shape the next phase of market management in the area.


The statement was e-signed by Hon. Ajo Pitex, Council Secretary, Gwer-East Local Government Council, Aliade.
