The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  LASG APPLAUDS JOHESU FOR CALLING OFF STRIKE, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO CONTINUOUS ENGAGEMENT


The Lagos State Government has commended the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) for its decision to call off the recent industrial action, describing the development as a demonstration of goodwill and shared responsibility toward safeguarding public healthcare services in the State.


The Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, speaking after a meeting between representatives of the State Government and executives of the Union, appreciated JOHESU for embracing dialogue and constructive engagement in resolving outstanding issues.


According to Mr. Ayantayo, there was a consensus at the meeting to sustain discussions while the Union convenes its Congress to formally communicate resolutions reached and restore normalcy across public healthcare facilities in Lagos State.


The Honourable Commissioner reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to addressing the Union’s demands for enhanced welfare benefits in line with established regulations and within agreed timelines. He emphasised that the administration remains steadfast in promoting equitable treatment, improved working conditions, and sustainable welfare programmes for health sector employees.


Mr. Ayantayo acknowledged the indispensable role of allied health professionals in strengthening healthcare delivery across the State and assured that the government will continue to engage stakeholders through open and transparent channels to ensure diligent implementation of all agreements reached.


He also commended the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly for their timely intervention and constructive role in facilitating dialogue and promoting understanding among all parties, which significantly contributed to the amicable resolution of the impasse.


The Honourable Commissioner expressed the appreciation of the State Government to residents for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the period of the strike, while reassuring the public of its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to quality healthcare services for all residents.
