 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  LAWMA DEBUNKS CLAIMS OF UNPAID COMPENSATION TO LATE HIGHWAY SANITATION WORKER


The attention of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has been drawn to a recent publication by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), alleging that the Lagos State Government has failed to fulfil its promise to compensate the family of late Mrs. Aishat Muhammed, a highway sanitation worker, who tragically lost her life in the line of duty on May 7, 2025.


LAWMA wishes to categorically state that the claim is inaccurate and does not reflect the true position of events.


Following the unfortunate incident, the Authority, through its operational partner, Highway Managers, the company that directly engaged the deceased, immediately commenced discussions with the family. After due engagement, a mutually agreed compensation arrangement was reached.


In line with this agreement, a total sum of ₦4,340,000 was paid to the deceased’s son as full and final compensation. The payment covered the insurance settlement from the responsible party, burial support, and additional financial assistance, including salary support extended to the family after the incident.


The agreed compensation was duly received, and the matter was considered concluded based on the understanding reached with the family.


LAWMA remains deeply saddened by the tragic loss and extends its continued sympathies to the family. The Authority remains fully committed to prioritising the welfare, safety, and protection of all sanitation workers across Lagos State. In addition, relevant compliance and safety measures have been further strengthened to safeguard its workforce.
