NFL receiver Rondale Moore found dead in his Indiana hometown

Rondale Moore, a 25-year-old NFL wide receiver, was found dead in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana, from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to local authorities.

Moore, who had endured consecutive season-ending knee injuries over the past two years, was discovered in a garage, with police confirming the death remains under investigation. An autopsy was scheduled to follow.

Moore’s career began with promise after a standout freshman season at Purdue and his selection by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He showed flashes of brilliance early on, recording over 1,200 receiving yards and four total touchdowns in three seasons.

However, devastating knee injuries derailed his time with both the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings, leaving him sidelined and visibly distraught during his final attempt to return to the field in 2025.

Tributes poured in from across the football community. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell described Moore as humble, disciplined, and deeply respected, while the Cardinals said they were “devastated and heartbroken.”

Former teammate J.J. Watt expressed disbelief, calling Moore “way too special” and “gone too soon.” Former Purdue coach Jeff Brohm remembered him as the ultimate competitor with unmatched work ethic and a contagious smile.

Moore’s death has left teammates, coaches, and fans mourning the loss of a talented young athlete whose career and life ended far too early.
