 POLICE ARREST SUSPECT OF IED EXPLOSION IN YENAGOA


The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested one man suspected of triggering IED, Wednesday, within the State Secretariat Complex, Yenagoa.


This follows a swift response as the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command Iyamah Daniel Edebor who immediately led the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit, Special Drone Unit and other Tactical Teams to the scene where the incident occurred.


On arrival the operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Unit swiftly contained the explosion and immediately cordoned off and upon detailed search one unexploded IED was indentified rendered safe. No live lost, no property destroyed. But one Pentecost Elijah 60 years from Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State, was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident. Police say the suspect is currently under going interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department that upon conclusion  he will be charged to court.


For now, the Police command public Relations officer Musa Mohammed in this statement says The situation is under control and normalcy has been  restored. Members of the public are advised to remain calm and continue with their lawful business activities.
