 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Police Seal Off Hyde Park Home After Shooting Leaves Worker Critically Injured


Police operations intensified in Hyde Park after a 23 year old worker was shot and critically injured at a residence linked to Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe.


Authorities deployed three emergency medical service trucks to the scene. K9 and forensic units searched the property as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers are looking for the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. Police have not yet confirmed whether any weapon has been recovered.


The residence is connected to Mugabe, the son of the late former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe. Mugabe and another man have been taken into custody. They are expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on charges of attempted murder.


Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances that led to the shooting. The condition of the injured worker remains critical.


The case has drawn attention because of the high profile name involved and the location of the incident in one of Johannesburg’s most affluent suburbs. However, the outcome will depend on the strength of the evidence presented in court. Police investigations are ongoing.
