 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  SEVERAL FEARED DEAD IN ROAD CRASH AT TARHEMBE MARKET IN BENUE 




A fatal road traffic accident has reportedly claimed multiple lives along the Tarhembe Market route in Tarka Local Government Area.


The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, near a sharp bend shortly after Tarhembe Market. Eyewitnesses say the crash involved a yet-to-be-identified vehicle, with several passengers feared dead at the scene.


Authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the number of casualties and the cause of the accident. Emergency responders were said to have moved to the scene shortly after the crash.


Residents have been advised to contact family members and loved ones who may have travelled through the Tarka road corridor on Monday morning to confirm their safety.


Meanwhile, community members are again calling attention to the dangerous bend along the Tarka road, which they describe as a recurring accident spot. They are urging the Benue State Government and relevant agencies to take urgent steps to improve safety measures on the stretch.
