 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  SEVERAL FEARED DEAD IN ROAD CRASH AT TARHEMBE MARKET IN BENUE 




A fatal road traffic accident has reportedly claimed multiple lives along the Tarhembe Market route in Tarka Local Government Area.


The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, near a sharp bend shortly after Tarhembe Market. Eyewitnesses say the crash involved a yet-to-be-identified vehicle, with several passengers feared dead at the scene.


Authorities are yet to release an official statement confirming the number of casualties and the cause of the accident. Emergency responders were said to have moved to the scene shortly after the crash.


Residents have been advised to contact family members and loved ones who may have travelled through the Tarka road corridor on Monday morning to confirm their safety.


Meanwhile, community members are again calling attention to the dangerous bend along the Tarka road, which they describe as a recurring accident spot. They are urging the Benue State Government and relevant agencies to take urgent steps to improve safety measures on the stretch.
