 26-year-old woman who made false rape claim against ‘kind’ UK banker and tried to blackmail him for money is jailed in Hong Kong  A woman who falsely accused a banker of rape has been jailed for six years.  Isabel Anonia Barbra Eudora Rose from Hackney, East London, was convicted of blackmail and perverting the course of justice after she demanded £100,000 from the UK banker she accused of rape.  The 26-year-old was sentenced at the District Court in Hong Kong on Wednesday, July 22, with Judge Adriana Noelle Tse Ching finding her guilty of blackmail and perverting the course of public justice.  2 skiers killed and 5 injured in northern Italy avalanche

Two skiers were killed, and five others were injured, on Saturday when an avalanche struck in the Italian Alps, authorities reported. The incident occurred in the Trentino-Alto Adige region near the town of Ratschings, close to the Austrian border.

Rescue teams received the alert around midday and dispatched six helicopters to assist. The avalanche hit the slopes of Hohe Ferse, which rises to 8,757 feet, with the slide impacting skiers at roughly 7,874 feet. Dozens of rescue personnel, firefighters, and law enforcement joined the effort. A total of 25 skiers were on the mountainside, but most avoided the full force of the snow, ice, and rocks. Earlier this week, a Polish man was killed by an avalanche in the same area. Despite the fatal outcome, the region’s avalanche risk on Saturday had been rated low to moderate.

The Alps have experienced a deadly winter, with multiple avalanches across Europe. In January, avalanches in Austria and France claimed the lives of more than a dozen skiers, including an American tourist.
