 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

 ASSESSMENT VISIT: COMMANDANT NIGERIAN ARMY ARMOUR SCHOOL PLEDGES  TO ENSURE CONTINUOUS QUALITY TRAINING OF ARMOUR PERSONNEL , COMMENDS OPERATION HADIN KAI


The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School (NAAS) Bauchi Major General Abubakar  Ahmed applauds the resilience and successes achieved by troops of  the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI and pledged to continue turning out competent tank crew and other armour personnel in support of OPHK. He made the call during operations assessment visit to the Headquarters OPHK, Maimalari Military Cantonment Maiduguri on Saturday, 28 March 2026.


While delivering his remarks  during the visit, the Commandant commended the Theatre Commander and troops of OPHK for their dedication and perseverance of troops in safguarding lives and property of the general public against terrorists and insurgents in the North East region. He commended the remarkable professional posture of troops and the peaceful atmosphere in Maiduguri. He stated that the aim of his visit was to reaffirm the support of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (NAAC) and to assess the performance of armour crew and personnel in OPHK. The Commandant declared that the visit will afford the visiting team opportunity to identify and address gaps observed in the performance of armour personnel deployed to the Theatre of OPHK.


Major General Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the routine feedback the NAAS receives regularly on the performance of  armour crew deployed to the Theatre. He further assured the provision of adequate platforms and sustenance of modular rotation of armour personnel in OPHK. 


In his remarks, the Theater Commander (TC) OPHK Major General Abdusalam  Abubakar appreciated the Commandant NAAS for the regular assessment visits and for the quality training of armour crew. Major  General Abubakar highlighted the importance of the assessment visit and critical roles of NAAC personnel towards the overall successes of OPHK. He noted with pride the performance of the graduates of the NAAS. Major General Abubakar assured the Commandant of adequate maintenance of armour platforms and the welfare of personnel in the theatre of OPHK. 


The engagement  was attended by the seasoned senior officers of OPHK,  highly interactive ,  featured remarks,  exchanged of souvenirs, signing of visitor’s book and group photograph.
