Fatal Gas Tanker Explosion at Sangotedo, LAGOS.

A gas tanker explosion at Ologuro Bus Stop, opposite Total Filling Station in Sangotedo, has claimed the life of one person and left two others injured.

A tipper truck, registration unknown, rammed into the tanker from behind, sparking a massive fire.

According to Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, preliminary investigations indicate the tipper truck driver’s over speeding and reckless driving were the immediate causes. Tragically, the driver, an adult male, died on impact. Two adult females sustained minor injuries and received prompt treatment from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

The explosion and ensuing fire also engulfed four roadside shops, causing substantial damage. Authorities report that the tanker’s contents are still trapped, with recovery operations ongoing.

LASEMA’s Shark Team, in collaboration with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS, have contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The fire has now been brought under control and recovery efforts are ongoing.
