 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. The planes have brought in technical ​equipment as well as dozens of physicians, engineers, lab experts and construction work...

 FG Appoints Prof.  Thairu Yunusa as CMD, UATH


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Thairu Yunusa as the substantive Chief Medical Director of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, presented the appointment letter to the new Chief Medical Director during a brief ceremony at his office in Abuja.


Professor Thairu Yunusa has since assumed office following the formal handover by the Acting Chief Medical Director, Professor Bob Ukonu, at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada. 


In a statement Signed by the Public Relations officer, UATH, Sani Suleiman, the event was witnessed by members of the hospital’s top management team.


Until his appointment, Professor Yunusa led the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Isolation and Treatment Centre in Gwagwalada and has played key roles in infectious disease management and clinical care delivery.


Speaking after assuming office, Professor Yunusa expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to strengthen healthcare service delivery in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.


The Consultant Physician also called on the management and staff of the hospital to support his administration in advancing the hospital forward.
