 *PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies.  FG DECLARES THURSDAY 19th, FRIDAY 20th PUBLIC HOLIDAYS FOR EID-UL-FITR


The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19th, and Friday, March 20th, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr.


In a statement, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, says the declaration was made on behalf of the Federal Government by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.


The Minister congratulates Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged them to sustain the virtues of love, generousity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice.


He also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and continued progress in the country.


Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged during the festivities.
