 Lagos hotel, 3 other properties forfeited by drug kingpins auctioned at N6.1billion *- It’s a clear message that cartels won’t be allowed to enjoy proceeds of their criminal trade, says Marwa*  A Lagos hotel and three other properties seized from drug kingpins by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and forfeited to the Federal Government through court processes have been auctioned for the sum of Six Billion One Hundred and Forty- Eight Million Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Thousand Naira (N6,148,964,000.00) only. This was the outcome of a competitive bid process for the sale of eight assets forfeited by drug barons in parts of the country. While bidders who offered above reserved prices emerged winners of four of the listed properties, bids for four others failed because none offered up to the reserved prices.  GOV. ALIA APPOINTS FIVE-MEMBER BOARD FOR BENUE TELEVISION 


The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of members to the Board of the Benue Television Corporation (BTC).


In a statement issued by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, the governor said the appointments take immediate effect.


Rev. Dr. Patrick Alumunku, OON, from Ushongo Local Government Area, will serve as Chairman of the Board. A media professional with a doctorate in Mass Communications, he has 12 years of experience with Vatican Radio and 21 years as Director of Communications at the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja. He currently serves as Executive Director of Catholic Television of Nigeria.


Dr. Thaddeus Hanmakyugh from Kwande LGA was appointed Secretary. He holds a doctorate in Film Production and Media Arts from the University of Abuja and previously served at the National Film Institute, Jos, where he retired.


Other members include Mrs. Jennifer Ejembi from Otukpo LGA, a former Executive Director of the Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan; Dr. Barnabas Gbam from Logo LGA, former Rector of the NTA College, Jos; and Engr. Sunday Iji from Oju LGA, former Director of Engineering Services at Radio Benue, Makurdi.


Governor Alia charged the new board to leverage their professional experience to strengthen broadcasting standards in the state and promote Benue’s cultural heritage through quality programming.
