Governor Uba Sani has cautioned political opponents against peddling misinformation that could threaten peace and stability in Kaduna State.

Speaking during an Iftar dinner with heads of security agencies, the governor said while his administration welcomes constructive criticism, it will not tolerate the deliberate spread of falsehood aimed at inciting unrest.

He stressed that freedom of speech should not be misused to circulate fake news capable of causing loss of lives and property.

According to him, individuals who attempt to destabilize the state under the guise of politics will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Describing Kaduna as a diverse and sensitive state that accommodates people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, Sani said his government remains committed to preserving harmony and peaceful coexistence.

With political primaries scheduled to begin in April and conclude in May, in line with the timetable released by Independent National Electoral Commission, the governor urged security agencies to remain vigilant.

He warned that some politicians who lose out in the contests may attempt to spread misinformation to create confusion.

Sani also called for stronger collaboration between security agencies, local government chairmen, and traditional and religious leaders to enhance intelligence gathering at the grassroots level.

He commended security operatives for their cooperation and noted that the state has not experienced any ethno-religious crisis since he assumed office.

While acknowledging improvements in security, he said efforts would continue to address challenges such as banditry and kidnapping.
