GYPSY ROSE BLANCHARD SLAMMED FOR MAKING LIGHT OF MOTHER'S MURDER IN TIKTOK TREND. (PHOTO).

Gypsy Rose Blanchard slammed for making light of mother's murder in TikTok trend

Gypsy Rose Blanchard recently stirred controversy by participating in a TikTok trend where people share shocking confessions under the theme of “we listen and we don’t judge.”

Appearing alongside influencer Natalie Reynolds on March 22, Gypsy referenced her past by joking about the murder of her mother, Dee Dee.

While Natalie admitted to her own controversial livestream incident, Gypsy followed by saying she went to prison for eight and a half years because she “X’d” her mom, a gesture symbolizing the killing.

The reaction online was swift, with many viewers condemning the video and insisting that such a crime should never be treated lightly.

The backlash highlights the tension between Gypsy’s growing social media presence and the gravity of her past. In 2015, she was arrested after her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, fatally stabbed Dee Dee.

Gypsy, who had been subjected to years of medical abuse and manipulation under her mother’s control, confessed to orchestrating the crime by convincing Godejohn to carry it out.

She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, ultimately serving eight before being released on parole in December 2023.

Her case became widely known through the documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest and Hulu’s dramatization The Act.

Since her release, Gypsy has leaned into public life, appearing in the Lifetime reality series Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up and building a following online.

By late 2025, she welcomed her first child, Aurora, with boyfriend Ken Urker, shifting her focus toward motherhood.

Despite this new chapter, her recent TikTok post demonstrates how her past continues to shape her public identity, sparking debate over whether her attempts at humor cross the line into insensitivity.
