INDIANA TEEN WAS FOUND COVERED IN BLOOD AFTER SAVING HIS ENTIRE FAMILY FROM HIS DEMENTED STEPDAD. (PHOTO).

Indiana teen was found covered in blood after saving his entire family from his demented stepdad.

The shocking series of events that led to the arrest of Robert Vanatta lV took place  in Greenwood, Indiana, on March 22nd.

On that evening, officers were called to the Candlewood Suites where they were met by a 17-year-old boy covered in blood.

The teen had an incredible story of his family's ordeal to escape from Robert Vanatta.

The mother had initially fled her home with the 17-year-old and his 16-year-old and 5-year-old siblings to escape from Vanatta's escalating @buse.

The family had sought refuge at the Candlewood Suites. However, Vanatta had tracked them down and laid in wait for his opportunity to exert control once again.

As the mother and children were attempting to leave the hotel in their vehicle, Vanatta began to chase them in his truck. Vanatta would eventually ram their vehicle multiple times, forcing them into a roadside ditch.

He then exited his truck armed with a gun and threatened to kill them all if they didn't get into his truck.

Frightened for their lives, they obeyed Vanatta's demands. Once inside of the vehicle, Vanatta began to drive them away.

This is when the 17-year-old decided to make his stand to save his family.  As Vanatta drove, the teen attacked him from the backseat, stabbing Vanatta from behind.

When Vanatta stopped the truck after being stabbed, the mother and all three children jumped out and fled.

Once they made it back to the safety of their hotel room, the mother called 911.

Authorities were able to track down Robert Vanatta lV a short time later and he was taken into custody.

Robert Vanatta lV is being charged with four counts of intimidation, four counts of criminal confinement, str@ngulation, domestic battery, neglect of a dependent and three counts of criminal recklessness.

Robert Vanatta lV is scheduled to appear in court on May 21st.

We hope this teen boy knows he's a hero.
