 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. James Tolkan, Back to the Future and Top Gun actor, dies at 94


James Tolkan, the veteran actor famed for his role as the strict school vice principal Gerald Strickland in the Back to the Future series, has died at the age of 94.

Tolkan passed away on Thursday in Saranac Lake, New York. A spokesperson confirmed his death on Friday, though no cause was immediately reported. He became widely recognized for portraying the stern principal who calls Marty McFly and his father “slackers,” a role he reprised throughout the trilogy, including portraying Strickland’s ancestors in the third film.

In addition to Back to the Future, Tolkan appeared as naval commander Stinger in the 1980s blockbuster Top Gun. His career spanned decades, with credits including WarGames and Dick Tracy, and he continued acting in films and television through 2011.

Tolkan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Parmelee, and three nieces in Des Moines, Iowa. His obituary encourages donations in his memory to local animal shelters, rescue organizations, or Humane Society chapters.
