 *PRESS RELEASE* EDO POLICE CONVENES POLITICAL PARTIES, SETS SECURITY TONE FOR 2027 ELECTIONEERING The Edo State Police Command has convened Chairmen of political parties, candidates and other key stakeholders in the electoral process for a strategic security meeting ahead of the 2027 electioneering campaigns. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, was designed to strengthen engagement between the Police and political actors, promote early understanding of security expectations, and establish a framework for peaceful and lawful political activities across the State. Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, emphasised that the role of the Police is to create the conditions for lawful political activity to thrive, not to participate in the political contest, and stressed the need for responsible conduct and sustained cooperation with security agencies.  Kaduna North Senator Resigns From PDP


Senator Ibrahim Khalid Mustapha, who represents Kaduna North in the National Assembly, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).


In a letter dated March 27, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Soba Ward, Mustapha cited ongoing leadership disputes and court cases within the party as his reason for leaving. 


He said the internal conflicts made it difficult to remain an active member.


“The internal crisis, unending court cases, and leadership disagreements have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my membership and participation,” the senator stated.


He thanked party members for their support over the years. 


Reports suggest he may join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) next.
