 Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn never married, deciding 43 years ago to have fun until we don't

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn first met in 1967 while filming The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, when Russell was just 15 and Hawn was 21. 

Years later, in 1983, they reconnected on the set of Swing Shift. Both had gone through divorces and were raising children Hawn with Oliver and Kate, and Russell with Boston. 

They decided to enjoy life together without pressure, saying, “Let’s have fun until we don’t,” and have now shared 43 years as partners.

Though they never married, Russell and Hawn blended their families and welcomed their son Wyatt in 1986. Over the decades, they built a life across multiple homes in California, Colorado, and New York, with Russell particularly fond of their log-cabin lodge in Old Snowmass. 

Hawn has explained their choice not to marry, emphasizing that devotion, honesty, and love matter more than legal status. 

She noted that they raised their children successfully and maintained independence while still sharing a deep bond.

Their children have openly embraced Russell as a father figure. Oliver and Kate Hudson call him “Pa,” with Oliver acknowledging on his podcast Sibling Revelry that Russell raised him and shaped the man he became. 

He recalled Russell once asking if they wanted to be adopted, but they declined, feeling his love was already enough. 

While Oliver later repaired his relationship with his biological father, Bill Hudson, he affirmed that Russell has always been his true dad, highlighting the enduring impact of Russell’s role in their lives.
