NSC CHAIRMAN HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF PARA ATHLETES IN NIGERIAN SPORTS AS FIRST LADY DECLARES 3RD NATIONAL PARA GAMES CLOSED
Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has congratulated Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe following his emergence as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the development as a major political milestone for Plateau State and a moment that could shape Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
The governor made the remarks during a high-profile solidarity visit to Yilwatda at his residence in Maitama, Abuja, where he led a delegation of political leaders, former officeholders, lawmakers, women groups, and youth representatives from Plateau State.
Governor Mutfwang said the appointment of Prof. Yilwatda to lead the APC at the national level highlights Plateau State’s rising influence in Nigeria’s politics.
According to him, the broad representation within the delegation reflected a shared commitment by stakeholders across political divides to support the new party leadership and strengthen national unity.
“This moment goes beyond one individual. It represents Plateau’s long-standing role in producing leaders of national importance,” the governor said.
He added that the show of solidarity from various political groups in the state signals a renewed commitment to cooperation and collective progress.
Mutfwang used the visit to urge political leaders and stakeholders to set aside differences and focus on unity for the development of both Plateau State and Nigeria.
He stressed that national progress requires collaboration, sacrifice, and a strong sense of shared responsibility among political actors.
“We must rise above divisions and work together to build a stronger Plateau and a more united Nigeria,” he said.
The governor also expressed confidence in Prof. Yilwatda’s ability to lead the ruling party during a crucial period in the country’s political evolution.
Yilwatda Pledges Inclusive Leadership
Responding, Prof. Yilwatda described the visit as a powerful demonstration of political unity in Plateau State and thanked the governor and the delegation for their support.
He pledged to provide inclusive leadership and work towards strengthening the APC while contributing to Nigeria’s broader development goals.
“This gathering sends a clear message that Plateau can speak with one voice when it matters most,” he said.
The new APC chairman assured stakeholders that his leadership would remain open to constructive engagement aimed at promoting good governance and sustainable development.
“My doors will remain open. Together, we will ensure Plateau’s interests are well represented while advancing the goals of our party and the nation,” he added.
Prof. Yilwatda’s emergence as APC National Chairman is widely seen as a significant moment for Plateau State, reinforcing its role in shaping national leadership within the ruling party.
The visit by Governor Mutfwang and other stakeholders underscores growing efforts among Plateau leaders to present a united political front at the national level.
