Federal Government has expressed its condolences to Algeria following the death of former President Liamine Zeroual.
In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria described the former Algerian leader, who passed away at the age of 84, as a distinguished statesman.
Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar conveyed the condolences of the Nigerian government to his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, and to the family of the late president.
The statement highlighted President Zeroual’s leadership during a critical transitional period in Algeria’s history, noting that his legacy of peace and statecraft extends beyond his country’s borders, particularly across Africa.
Nigeria stands in solidarity with Algeria during this period of national mourning.
