 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24. Not fewer than 20 persons have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries following a deadly attack by suspected gunmen in Gari Ya Waye, Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, Plateau State.


The incident occurred on Sunday night, March 29, 2026, coinciding with Palm Sunday celebrations observed by Christians worldwide. Residents said the attack began at about 7:50 p.m., catching the community off guard.


Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen stormed the area and opened fire indiscriminately, triggering chaos and forcing residents to flee for safety.

Several injured victims were said to have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while families continued to search for missing relatives in the aftermath of the violence.


The exact motive behind the attack remains unclear. 

Security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.


A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We heard gunshots everywhere. People were running in different directions. It was terrifying.”


Another local source described the situation as “a night of horror,” adding that the community is still in shock.


Authorities are expected to intensify security in the area as investigations continue.
