 PRAY FOR PEACE IN NIGERIA, SANWO-OLU URGES INTENDING PILGRIMS Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged the Intending Pilgrims embarking on the 2026 holy pilgrimage exercise to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to actively participate in the prayer sessions for the prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria. Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the charge during a one-day seminar held at the Lagos Television De-Blue Roof Ikeja for the 2026 Hajj Intending Pilgrims, organised by the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, said that the Hajj exercise revolves around intermittent prayer sessions and the pilgrims should use the opportunity to pray for the State and Nigeria at large fervently. Pope Leo describes Middle East war as a ‘scandal’ to humanity

  

 Pope Leo on Sunday condemned the ongoing war in the Middle East, calling the death and suffering it has caused a “scandal to the whole human family” and urging an immediate ceasefire. Speaking during his weekly Angelus prayer at St. Peter’s Square, the pope said he follows the conflict, along with other war-torn regions, with “dismay.”

He emphasized the moral responsibility to respond to the plight of civilians caught in the fighting. “We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people, the defenseless victims of these conflicts. What hurts them hurts the whole of humanity,” Leo said. He renewed his call for prayer and action to end hostilities and create a path toward lasting peace.
