Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are reportedly considering leaving the UK following the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, as the consequences of their father Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest continue to ripple through their lives.
The sisters, who have not been accused of any wrongdoing, have come under intense public scrutiny after newly released files from the US Department of Justice revealed that the disgraced financier had a deeper connection to their family than previously known.
The spotlight has been especially intense on Beatrice, 37, who is said to feel mortified by the scandal and determined to keep her life and marriage together.
According to sources, Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 42, has been preoccupied with his property business, traveling recently to Miami and Los Angeles while leaving his wife to navigate the crisis at home.
Now insiders suggest the couple are exploring a fresh start abroad, most likely in the United States, following a path similar to that of their cousin Prince Harry.
A royal source told the Daily Mail that the sisters are looking closely at Eugenie’s experience of living abroad.
Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have settled in Portugal since 2022, a move that seems to have influenced Beatrice’s thinking. “It would have been unthinkable a few years ago but now times are very different,” the source said.
“Moving abroad, most likely to the United States, would be a fresh start for Beatrice and Edo. It could help give their marriage a kick start and get it back on track.”
The source added that remaining in the UK would leave the couple vulnerable to ongoing scrutiny, noting the continuing police investigation into Andrew.
“There is the police investigation which will last several months, and if Andrew is charged, there will be a trial.
"That’s just more attention they can do without,” the source explained.
“A move to the United States seems obvious. Edo spends a lot of time there, and both sisters are in touch with Harry, who has been offering them advice. There was even talk of staying in California for a while.”
Beatrice has also faced personal strain, having encouraged her father to participate in his 2019 Newsnight interview.
She and Eugenie have rarely been seen in public since Andrew’s February arrest, which included widely circulated images of him being driven from a police station.
Meanwhile, their mother, Sarah Ferguson, has maintained a low profile as the Epstein files revealed deeply embarrassing details about her connections to the financier.
