Top Iranian security official labels Trump’s war goals ‘delusional’

Iran’s top security official sharply criticized President Trump on Monday, calling his goals in the escalating Middle East conflict “delusional fantasies” and dismissing reports that Tehran is seeking negotiations with Washington.

Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s National Security Council, wrote on social media that Trump’s actions had plunged the region into chaos and put U.S. troops at risk, while serving Israeli interests. Larijani accused the former president of abandoning “America First” in favor of “Israel First,” claiming that American lives and resources were being sacrificed to advance Israeli expansionist ambitions. He emphasized that Iran, unlike the U.S., is prepared for a prolonged conflict, and reaffirmed that the country will not negotiate with Washington despite speculation to the contrary.

Since the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran, which killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and targeted thousands of military sites, Larijani has portrayed Iran as resilient, warning that Trump’s approach risks dragging the region into unnecessary war. The strikes and retaliatory Iranian attacks have affected multiple countries in the Middle East, including Israel, Iraq, the Gulf states, and even Cyprus. Larijani, long seen as a pragmatic voice in Tehran, now projects defiance, rejecting any possibility of resuming talks with the United States.
