The Lagos State Government has been commended for its immense contributions and support to the National Sports School Federation for the ongoing second edition of the National Volleyball Championship for all secondary schools in the country, taking place in Lagos.

Mr. Godwin Atagbe, the National Treasurer of the National School Sports Federation (NSSF), gave the commendation while addressing the press at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos after the kickoff of the second edition of the National School Sport Federation (NSSF) Volleyball championship for all secondary schools in Nigeria at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

This year’s edition has about 13 states participating in the championship with Lagos being represented by eight male and eight female teams from both private and secondary schools in the state.

Mr. Godwin Atagbe, the National Treasurer of the National School Sport Federation, said that the competition was designed by the NSSF to discover talents at the grassroots, in secondary school and to feed them into the federation as there are lots of budding talents in our schools.

According to him, the first and second place winners will represent Nigeria at the International School Volleyball Championship coming up in Shangluo, People's Republic of China, from 1st July to 10th July later in the year. The competition is a trial to pick the representative that will represent Nigeria at the international level, and at the same time to discover talents for the Federation.

Mr. Lekan Fatodu, Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), during his visit to the teams at the championship venue stated that the state government maintained equal commitment to the development of all sports across the State.
