The Nigerian Correctional Service, Yobe State Command, has completed the first phase of its Digital Literacy Programme for inmates and launched the second module at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Potiskum.
Thirty inmates were enrolled for the first phase programme where they learnt computer operations, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and graphic design.
The initiative is backed by the Yobe State Government under Governor Mai Mala Buni, in partnership with the Yobe State Information Technology Development Agency, YITDA, which equipped the custodial centre with computers and other digital tools for the training.
The Director-General YITDA, Dr. Adam Kachalla Mohammad called the completion of Module One a major step toward digital inclusion in the state.
