Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  Alec Baldwin admits he 'doesn’t want to work anymore' after 'Rust' shooting death: 'I want to retire'

Nearly five years after the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, Alec Baldwin has spoken candidly about how the incident reshaped his life and career.

In July 2024, a judge in Santa Fe dismissed the involuntary manslaughter case against Baldwin, ruling that prosecutors had withheld evidence from his defense team.

Despite the legal resolution, Baldwin admitted the experience left a lasting mark on him, describing it as “unspeakably difficult” and profoundly altering his outlook on work and family.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Baldwin explained that the tragedy led him to step away from acting for several years, spending most of his time at home with his children.

He confessed that this period of domestic life became unexpectedly fulfilling, to the point where he grew reluctant to return to the industry.

While he acknowledged that new projects are now on the horizon, Baldwin admitted he has grown comfortable with the idea of retirement, preferring the stability of home life over the demands of Hollywood.

The incident itself occurred in October 2021, when Baldwin discharged a revolver on set after being told it was a “cold gun.” The weapon, however, contained a live round, fatally striking Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

Armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed was later convicted of loading the live ammunition.

Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria, stood by him throughout the ordeal, even breaking down in court when the case was dismissed.

Together, the couple are raising seven children, while Baldwin also shares an adult daughter, Ireland, with his former wife, Kim Basinger.
