Long before becoming fashion insiders, the sisters built global recognition as child actors through projects like Full House, It Takes Two, and New York Minute.  BURUKU CHAIRMAN CONDEMNS KILLING OF NYSC MEMBER, DIRECTS IMMEDIATE PROSECUTION OF SUSPECTS

A National Youth Service Corps member, Ben Agir Une, has died following an alleged assault by a vigilante group in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State. The council chairman has condemned the incident and ordered immediate prosecution of those involved.

The Executive Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura, has condemned the death of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ben Agir Une, following an alleged assault by members of a community vigilante group.

The incident reportedly occurred in Anibros Settlement, Buruku LGA, where Une, an indigene of Tongov in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, was apprehended during a night patrol on suspicion of possessing a stolen motorcycle.

According to the statement, the corps member was subjected to severe beating during the arrest, leaving him critically injured. He was later taken to a police station, where officers advised that he be rushed to a medical facility for urgent treatment.

He was subsequently confirmed dead at the hospital after failing to respond to treatment.

Reacting, Hon. Aondoakura described the development as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” stressing that the act contradicts the values of justice and respect for human life in the area.

“This unfortunate act does not in any way represent who we are as a people. It is a grave violation, and it will not be tolerated,” the chairman stated.

He extended condolences to the deceased’s family, the people of Katsina-Ala LGA, and the management of the NYSC, noting that the loss is a painful blow to the nation.

The chairman disclosed that all individuals involved have been apprehended by security agencies and directed that a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution be carried out.

“We will not shield anyone found culpable. The law must take its full course,” he added.

He also warned community-based vigilante groups against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that suspects must always be handed over to proper law enforcement authorities.

Hon. Aondoakura reassured residents of Buruku LGA of his administration’s commitment to upholding peace, security, and the rule of law.
