D4vd Sent Text Messages to Celeste Rivas Hernandez After He Killed Her to 'Cover Up' Crime - Report
Authorities have outlined new allegations in the case involving singer D4vd, claiming he attempted to cover up the killing of teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez through a series of messages and phone calls after her death.
In a preliminary hearing brief dated April 29, prosecutors allege the 21-year-old is responsible for a violent attack on April 23, 2025, and later tried to create a false timeline by contacting her phone after the incident had already occurred. He is charged with murder, continuous sexual abuse of a minor, and unlawful mutilation of human remains.
According to the filing, tensions between Burke and the victim escalated days earlier following a dispute about his relationships with other women. Prosecutors also say Rivas had threatened to expose personal information about their relationship.
The document states that Burke arranged for an Uber to pick up the 14-year-old from her home in Lake Elsinore and bring her to his residence in Hollywood Hills that evening. She arrived around 10:10 p.m., according to investigators.
Shortly after, at about 10:30 p.m., Burke allegedly sent messages asking where she was, something prosecutors argue was part of a deliberate effort to mislead others, since they believe she had already been @ that point.
He later left his home around 11:30 p.m. and continued texting and calling her phone while driving, which prosecutors describe as staged behavior intended to support a future explanation of events.
The brief further alleges he traveled to Santa Barbara in the hours that followed, where he attempted to dispose of personal items and destroy evidence before returning home the next morning. Additional messages sent the following day also reportedly went unanswered.
Investigators say Rivas’ remains were discovered months later, on September 8, 2025, inside the front trunk of Burke’s Tesla, packed in separate bags. Authorities reported that parts of her body were missing, and the remains were severely decomposed.
The filing also includes allegations that Burke and Rivas first met when she was 11 years old, with prosecutors stating their relationship later turned inappropriate when she was 13.
