Diane Keaton’s personal world goes up for auction, from fashion to film history
A remarkable collection tied to Diane Keaton is about to go under the hammer, bringing together pieces that reflect her life, taste, and creative journey.
Auction house Bonhams is preparing a series of sales split between New York City and Los Angeles this June.
The lineup is not just about high-value items, it feels more like stepping into Keaton’s personal world, from her fashion choices to the art she created and collected over the years.
The collection has been given the title “The Architecture of an Icon”, and it lives up to that name. It pulls together everything from fine art and interiors to clothing and deeply personal items that shaped her identity both on and off screen.
Among the standout pieces are designs from Ralph Lauren and Thom Browne, along with Keaton’s own handmade collages.
There is also something special for film lovers, a copy of the original untitled script for Annie Hall, the film that became one of her most defining roles alongside Woody Allen.
Her sister, Dorrie Hall, captured the essence of it all in a simple but powerful way, describing Keaton as someone guided by instinct, someone whose eye for beauty and creativity never really missed.
The auction carries emotional weight too. It comes months after Keaton p@ssed at the age of 79 at her home in Los Angeles, with her family later confirming pneumonia as the cause. In the days that followed, they shared how much the outpouring of love meant to them during such a difficult time.
The sales themselves will unfold in stages. “Tailored & Timeless” runs from May 31 to June 9 in New York and online.
“At Home with Diane” follows closely, taking place in Los Angeles and online from June 1 to June 10. Another segment, “Chapters of an Edited Life”, will also run in Los Angeles and online from June 1 to June 11.
The final event, “Architecture of an Icon”, will be held live in New York City on June 8.
Taken together, these auctions feel less like a simple sale and more like a farewell tour through a life that blended cinema, fashion, and personal expression in a way that was entirely her own.
