Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  I Thought We’d Get Married - Sinitta Opens Up on Why Her Long Romance With Simon Cowell Fell Apart

Sinitta has spoken openly about her long and complicated history with Simon Cowell, revealing the emotional reason their decades-long on-and-off romance never led to marriage.

During Friday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity All Stars, the singer shared a candid moment with campmates as she reflected on the relationship that stretched over more than 20 years.

The pair first met in a London nightclub in the early 1980s when Sinitta was still a teenager. Looking back, she admitted she always believed Simon would eventually become her husband.

Speaking honestly, Sinitta said the relationship was difficult at times, especially because Simon was not always faithful, while she admits she became deeply attached.

“He wasn’t a faithful boyfriend. He wouldn’t mind me saying it because he knows,” she said. “I was very possessive, but he kind of likes that.”

She went on to explain that her feelings often ran deeper than his, describing herself as someone who tends to see love through a romantic lens.

“I feel like Simon loves me and cares about me, but I think I romanticise everything,” she said.

Seeing Simon now settled with his fiancée Lauren Silverman and their son Eric has also forced her to reflect on what they once had.

“You see him with his partner and his baby, well, he’s a big boy now, and it’s like wow, okay. Everyone really does have their proper person.”

Sinitta admitted that while she may have been important to Simon during a certain chapter of his life, what he has now feels different.

“I was the right person for a time, but they’ve got this whole level of something that we didn’t have.”

She then shared the part she believes she played in the breakdown.

“I think I was probably too needy. I genuinely believed that we were going to get married. I’m such a romantic that I thought it was going to be our happily ever after, and then it wasn’t. That was pretty hard.”

Despite the heartbreak, the two have remained close friends over the years.

Sinitta has previously spoken about how difficult it was to let go of Simon emotionally, even admitting therapy helped her understand why she held on for so long.

“Apart from my mother, he was the constant person in my life,” she once explained. “I think I’d found a sort of security in that person.”

Her emotional reflection comes amid fresh attention on her appearance in the All Stars camp, where she also addressed backlash over her exchange with Gemma Collins, insisting parts of the conversation had been edited in a way that did not reflect the full interaction.
