 U.S equipment, experts arrive at Kenya Ebola facility despite court order, protests Around 20 flights carrying medical equipment and specialist staff have landed at a base in Kenya where the U.S. ​government is continuing to build an Ebola quarantine facility despite protests and Kenyan court orders blocking it, according to flight data and officials. At least two ‌people have been killed in protests in the central Kenyan town of Nanyuki, home to the Kenyan air force base where the U.S. military is building a 50-bed unit for Americans who might be exposed to the virus, which has infected hundreds in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. A Kenyan court first ordered work on the Ebola facility to be suspended on May ​28, yet U.S. military flights into Nanyuki continued in the days that followed, according to data from flight-tracking service Flightradar24.  LASCOPA ADVOCATES SAFE PRODUCTS, CONSUMER RIGHTS AT WAMCO REGULATORY PARLEY


As part of ongoing public sensitisation and stakeholder engagement efforts, the General Manager of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) attended the FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Limited Regulatory Parley held recently at the Oludolapo Akinkugbe Academy.


The parley brought together key stakeholders from the Federal Government and Lagos State regulatory ministries and agencies to foster collaboration and strengthen regulatory alignment.


In his remarks, the General Manager emphasised the importance of ensuring Safe Products, Confident Consumers, in line with the theme of World Consumer Rights Day 2026. He noted that consumer confidence is built on the availability of safe, high-quality products that meet established standards and regulatory requirements.


According to him, when consumers are assured of product safety, they are better empowered to make informed choices and actively participate in the marketplace.


Furthermore, speaking on product replacement and compensation, the General Manager reiterated that consumers have the right to seek redress when sold defective, substandard, or unsafe products. He stressed that businesses have a responsibility to promptly replace faulty goods or provide adequate compensation where necessary, in accordance with consumer protection laws.


Solebo also encouraged consumers to report grievances through appropriate channels, assuring them of the Agency’s continued commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair treatment in the marketplace.


The parley provided a platform for constructive dialogue, collaboration, and alignment on regulatory standards, compliance, and industry best practices. It also reinforced the commitment of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Limited to maintaining high-quality production standards and fostering a transparent relationship with regulatory bodies.


The engagement underscores the importance of public-private sector collaboration in advancing consumer protection, food safety, and sustainable growth within Nigeria’s dairy industry.


Regulatory bodies in attendance included the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI), Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LASWMO), Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LAWRECO), Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), and Lagos State Advertising and Signage Agency (LASAA).
