Serena Williams' husband addresses critics over White House UFC event Alexis Ohanian, husband of tennis star Serena Williams, faced backlash after attending President Trump’s 80th birthday celebration at the White House, which doubled as a UFC event staged by Dana White’s TKO group. The spectacle drew criticism when fighter Josh Hokit used his post-fight interview to make a vile slur about former First Lady Michelle Obama.  Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit and now owns several sports teams, stayed silent for days before finally condemning the remark on social media, insisting he had already left the event when it was made.  Madagascar expels French diplomat over alleged interference

Madagascar said on Tuesday it had expelled a French diplomat after summoning the country's ambassador, citing alleged involvement in destabilisation activities, AFP reported.

Ambassador Arnaud Guillois was informed of the government's decision "to declare a member of the French embassy accredited in Antananarivo persona non grata, on account of conduct deemed incompatible with his status," the foreign ministry said in a statement, without naming the staff member.

It did not specify the nature of the alleged destabilisation activities, but said the decision followed ongoing investigations involving both Malagasy and foreign nationals.

Alleged plot against transitional president

Tuesday's expulsion follows social media accusations against France, including claims that "French mercenaries" had arrived in the country.

The French foreign ministry denied the allegations.

Transitional President Michael Randrianirina says that demonstrators have received foreign funding to destabilise the country.

Prosecutors in Madagascar said earlier this month that 13 people, including a general, had been charged over an alleged plot to assassinate Randrianirina, 52.

Elections

The interim president has pledged to hold elections within two years.

A transition roadmap published in February outlines national consultations in 2026, followed by a new constitution and a presidential election by the end of 2027.
