Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that he recently underwent treatment after doctors discovered an early-stage malignant prostate tumor during a follow-up examination.
The finding came after Netanyahu previously had surgery in December 2024 to treat benign enlargement of the prostate. During a routine post-operative checkup, physicians identified a small area in the prostate measuring less than one centimeter, which was later diagnosed as a very early-stage cancerous tumor with no evidence of spread.
Netanyahu said medical professionals initially presented the option of continued monitoring, but he chose to proceed with treatment to remove the growth. He described the procedure as a targeted intervention that successfully eliminated the tumor without leaving any remaining traces.
In addition to the cancer finding, the latest annual health evaluation indicated that Netanyahu is otherwise in good overall health, according to his statement.
